August Newsletter 2024
Editorial
July was such a great and busy month! We hosted Dr Keiren Richardson at West End to learn the latest about non surgical treatment of ACL tears. We are now across the latest research and evidence and ready to help people with ACL injuries to understand all treatment options available to them. We have a promotion this month to reach as many people as possible to help get more ACL knees on the path to recovery without the need for surgery
We have also welcomed new admin to our team and introduce you to them in this newsletter below. We said a sad goodbye to Summa from
West End and wish her all the best for the future.
Tammy (our amazing Chiro) is now full time at West End where the Shockwave and Cold Laser machines are housed. She is getting some
great results with grumpy OA knees and tricky shoulders as well as achilles and plantar fasciits cases with her unique approach to treating
these stubborn conditions. A patient I referred to Tammy for shockwave on his knee (his knee was resistant to usual physio treatment) was
shocked at the improvement he felt after 2 sessions. He reported it was 75 % better after 2 sessions. He was considering
arthroscopic surgery on his knee but has regained lost range and now can strengthen through that range to get back to good function.
Please do reach out to discuss how shockwave therapy may benefit you. It may make the difference you need to get moving again and
out of pain that may have been bothering you for a while.
We completed Dry July (well some of us did) - some of us went sober and some completed 100k of exercise (well some of us did) - we raised
almost $1,900 which goes to the Pinc and Steel foundation to help support Cancer rehab programs.
We have some great offers for those wanting to get started with Clinical PIlates or the gym and even a special for those that can't decide.
Have a great August - see you in the clinic

ACL REHAB WITHOUT SURGERY
We now know that many ACL tears will heal naturally with the help of a brace and a good rehab program - without the need for surgery.
Popular belief has, in the past, mostly been that if you tear your ACL you have to have surgery - NOT SO !
Depending on the degree and type of tear there is a good chance that a torn ACL will actually repair over a period of 12 weeks. A further 6-12 weeks can see you back doing most things including returning to sport.
The evidence shows very good statistics on the outcomes of non-surgical management of ACL tears and we are across the most up-to-date approaches and pathways.
If you or someone you know has torn their ACL the sooner they see us the better - bracing and exercise can start straight away after the injury
DRY JULY THANKYOU !
Thanks to all of our clients who supported us for Dry July! Some of our staff went sober and some chose to do a physical challenge of 100km
of exercise in the month of July. We raised a total of $1857.80!!! Thanks to all your generous donations. All
the money goes to our chosen Cancer organisation - Pinc & Steel, who help to fund cancer rehabilitation and group exercise classes. If
you or anyone you know is going through cancer, get in touch with our oncology Physio Claudia to see how she can help.
Thanks again for all your support. Donations are open until the end of August if you would like to contribute to Pinc & Steel

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
The results we are seeing are SHOCKING (not joking).
We are seeing some great results using shockwave therapy on joints like knees and shoulders.
The scope for the use of shockwave is much greater than people realise and conditions like arthritis (knees, hips and shoulders in
particular) and tendonopathies (achilles and plantar fasciitis) are responding to this therapy within 3 - 5 treatment
sessions.
Talk to your therapist about whether shockwave therapy could benefit you - Tammy our Chiro is the expert clinician in this area and
is availabe for treatments at West End every week day.
